The Diamond Studded Spikes
Honey Drip Jewelry first debuted their "Thorn Signet"; a ring designed to reflect the beauty and danger of a wild rose, in 2025. Featuring a pink diamond pear center stone as pink petal, the ring is adorned with inverted (reverse-set) white diamond princess cut stones, set aligned down the tapered shoulders of the ring as symbols of thorns in the form of studded spikes. Instead of using round-shape inverted stones for this, (which felt to the designers to be too much of an obvious choice) they instead chose princess-cut diamonds to achieve the spiked appearance, balancing the aura of spikes found in the natural world and combining them with the square-shaped spikes that have become an iconic symbol of defiance for decades. Whether natural or man-made, the symbolism of spikes is an undeniable reflection of self-preservation.
The design choice of these styles was not simply to use inverted stones for the sake of texture, rather to use inverted stones arranged in a line to create a spiked silhouette that mimics the iconic studded adornment first recognized in the 70s punk scene. This design elements continued through the fashion of music based subcultures such as the 80s metal music scene (versions which included the glam hair metal scene in LA and beyond, to the death metal scene popularized in Norway), the goth and industrial presentation of the 90s, all the way to the 2000’s myspace and soundcloud dominated emo and the various “scene” groups, which of were many (to include further scene groups; the pop-punk scene, metalcore, neon scene, just to name a few). Throughout these eras, spiked jewelry, fashion, and adornment have been an aspect of the subculture uniform, with the meaning of these spiked and studded pieces never changing. They’ve remained a symbol of defiance and agency, and a symbol of self-approved otherness. Worn as symbols to reflect outwards to others who might observe you, and as items that speak for you and often your values without needing to say a word.
However, the one thing that seemed to not changed throughout these eras is the materials used in spike clothing and jewelry. These pieces are often constructed n stainless steel, classically set into leather (or faux leather), often purchased as a throwaway and produced with cheap materials that tarnish and degrade over time. This Diamond Studded Spike collection by Honey Drip Jewelry was designed to reflect the same meanings of protection and agency of the pieces, yet produced in finer materials like 14k gold and diamonds. In early 2026, Honey Drip began the production of an additional trio of diamond spiked rings, meant to reflect the same organic and elevated shape as the original Thorn Ring.
Thoughtfully designed and constructed in New York City, these pieces are an elevated take on studded and spiked jewelry, making them a perfect pairing regardless of your current jewelry collection. Meet the full collection below:

What is Diamond Studded Spike Jewelry?
Diamond studded spike jewelry is not simply the use of inverted stones, which has been used over time by many jewelers to add textures and an "edgier" aspect to traditional pieces of fine jewelry, like diamond earrings or necklaces. Honey Drip Jewelry's diamond spike jewelry is unique in that it is categorized by princess (square) cut diamonds, set inverted (also known as reverse-set) to reveal the pointed cutlet of the stone, and set flush in a linear arrangement to mimic spiked belts, bracelets, and other pieces of iconic adornment from the punk, goth, metal, emo, and other scenes also dominated by alternative music and social movements. These jewelry pieces by Honey Drip offer a spiked silhouette in multiple options which include punk takes on gold and diamond eternity bands, chunky curve rings, and diamond signets.
